Colorectal cancer resources

Cancer Council QLD – The Cancer Council, together with volunteers, supporters, stakeholders, and staff, are committed to reducing the impact of cancer on individuals and the community, and to lessening the burden for people affected by cancer.

Bowel Cancer Australia – Bowel Cancer Australia’s vision is to reduce incidence, death, and suffering associated with bowel cancer through advocacy, awareness, education, support, and research.

National Bowel Cancer Screening Program – The National Bowel Cancer Screening Program (NBCSP) invites eligible people starting at age 50 and continuing to age 74 (without symptoms) to screen for bowel cancer using a free, simple test at home.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Crohn’s and Colitis Association – For more than 30 years, Crohn’s & Colitis Australia has been making life more liveable for over 85,000 Australian men, women, and children living with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis – collectively known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

IBD Support – IBD Support Australia is run by a group of passionate volunteers who have an inflammatory bowel disease or have been affected by an IBD in some way. They provide a range of online resources. Their goal is to inspire and support through the exchange of ideas, experience, and morale.

Bladder and Bowel Website (Department of Health) – Common problems like incontinence can affect men and women of all ages. Find out about bladder and bowel health, what to do if you have a problem, and what we’re doing to help improve bladder and bowel health in Australia.

Stomal Support

The Australian Council of Stoma Associations (ACSA) – ACSA represents, at a national level, the interests of 21 regional Stoma Associations and, through them, approximately 46,000 persons living with an ostomy and located throughout Australia.

Specialist Societies

Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia & New Zealand (CSSANZ) – CSSANZ has 266 members and represents specialist colorectal surgeons in these two countries. Members have undertaken advanced training in colorectal surgery.

Australian Society of Stomal Therapy Nurses – The professional organisation of Stomal Therapy Nurses in Australia. Their major objective is the promotion of quality care for a wide range of people with specific needs relating to ostomy construction, urinary or faecal incontinence, and wounds.

​Continence Foundation of Australia – The national peak body promoting bladder and bowel health in Australia, with a primary vision to have a community free of the stigma of incontinence. They provide information on funding, referral, and products.
