Dr Vasant Rajan
Colorectal and General Surgeon (MBBS, FRACS, mCSSANZ)
Dr Vasant Rajan is a Brisbane based general surgeon with expertise in colorectal surgery. He completed his medical degree from the University of Mumbai, India in 2001, then pursued surgical training in the United States after completing his United States Medical Licensure Examination. In 2007, Dr Rajan moved to Australia for a fellowship.
Dr Rajan undertook advanced general surgical training in Sydney through the Royal Prince Alfred and Concord Hospitals obtaining his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2015. He went on to pursue a Masters in Surgery at the University of Sydney, and following this, he undertook two years of subspeciality colorectal surgical training at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide and Liverpool Hospital in Sydney. Dr Rajan is accredited by the conjoint committee of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) for colonoscopies. He is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ).
Dr Rajan continues to stay abreast of the latest developments and changes in his field with a commitment to ongoing continuing professional development activities. He maintains a strong interest in the teaching, training, and supervision of medical students, residents, surgical trainees, and fellows at the institutions he practises at.
Dr Rajan has experience in dealing with all aspects of colorectal diseases, such as bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, and anorectal and pelvic floor disorders. He is skilled at laparoscopic and minimally invasive techniques for managing these conditions, as well as advanced endoscopic techniques in colonoscopies.
Dr Vasant Rajan currently holds public appointments at Logan and Redland Hospitals and is focused on developing and delivering an excellent colorectal surgical service to all of his patients.
